Solving crime, creating community and being a mentor…can that all be packaged into one person? Sure can!

Zoe Russek works at the University of Chicago Crime Lab as the Associate Director of Criminal Justice Initiatives. In her role, Zoe collaborates with the Chicago Police Department and researchers to pilot, evaluate and scale innovative, data-driven policy solutions to improve policing in Chicago. Most recently, she led the charge on implementing a new early intervention system, helping CPD meet consent decree obligations and setting a new standard for early intervention nationwide. Zoe's professional life is rooted in her belief in the power of tikkun olam , repairing the world.

In her spare time, Zoe is deeply involved in the Jewish community, where she serves as a BBYO advisor, and is a Base ambassador, where she advises on programming strategies for young adults. As the grandchild of a Holocaust survivor, Zoe works hard to share her grandma's story to the next generation. To top it all off, she is known for hosting a great Shabbat dinner!
